The Story of Plastic takes a sweeping look at the man-made crisis of plastic pollution and the worldwide effect it has on the health of our planet and the people who inhabit it. Featuring interviews with experts and activists on the frontlines of the fight, revealing the disastrous consequences of the flood of plastic smothering ecosystems and poising communities around the world, The Story of Plastic gives us clear picture and shows us the whole story behind the plastic pollution crisis. We are lucky to have six amazing panelist who are fighting the plastic pollution crisis in our own backyard and globally. They are fighting for our climate, environment, and future. April Meeting Recap

Our April meeting was our first time going virtual and it was a success! Surfrider Seattle Members and friends gathered to come together for engaging talk, updates, and some fun. This meeting introduced Washington State's new full time Surfrider hire Liz Schotman who serves as the Washington Regional Manager. Welcome Liz!  We also heard from member Dr. Meade Krosby who gave an amazing presentation on COVID 19 and our Climate Crisis and the striking similarities between the two. Dr. Krosby showed how many of the signs of grief that one feels because of the climate crisis mirrors the grief that we are probably feeling during COVID 19. We came away with some great take aways for how to be engaged and resources to help us through this time and through out our fight for a better climate, environment, and future. Thank you Meade!

Meet our new Secretary

A big congratulations and thank you to Sydney Taylor for volunteering to serve as secretary. She was confirmed via vote by the Executive Committee members. Sydney has been an active volunteer with the Seattle Chapter also serving as a member on the Ocean Friendly Restaurants Committee. The Executive Committee for the Seattle Chapter of Surfrider now has all positioned filled and is excited to work with our new secretary.
