On Wednesday June 17th, members from the Surfrider Foundation of the Seattle Chapter gathered in early celebration of International Surfing Day (ISD). The event was held at Urban Surf, a local surf shop in front of Gas Works Park, and had a chance to meet and catch up with some of the surfers of Seattle. Thanks to Urban Surf who hosted the SUP race held in Gas Works, volunteers were able to raise awareness to the Hold On To Your Butts campaign (HOTYB), as well as notifying visitors of future chapter beach cleaning events such as the Westport cleanup on July 5th.

There was plenty of food and beverages for the SUP racers who blasted it out on the water. Surfrider volunteers also held a raffle- thanks to the support of many local businesses- for a chance to win some awesome gear like shirts, shorts and other accessories. The grand prize included two tickets to the Slightly Stoopid Concert held at Marymoor Park on August 6th 2015, along with band merchandise of T-shirts, a beach towel and an album. By the time Surfriders were ready to announce the winners of the raffle, Urban Surf was mobbed with anticipating visitors and racers. Raising $305 in donations, we were able to celebrate another great ISD for 2015. Thanks to everyone who found the time to make it out to ISD; if you're not a member, sign up here to be included next year. Also, a big shout out to Urban Surf for hosting a fantastic event as well as marking 30 years in business!
